The Study Centre is a local project run by SPAN, a National multi-racial organisation run by single parents working to improve the conditions of life for one parent families. Through national campaigning, supporting help groups and networking of information, SPAN works to make changes by challenging problems faced by single parents:
The Study Centre focuses on training and support for single parents wanting to move forward towards increased self-confidence, towards seeking employment or further education, or wanting to do something for themselves away from the kids. As in all areas of SPAN's work, we are committed to involving single parents at every level of decision-making, ensuring multi-racial representation and responding to the very different needs of one-parent families, including different races and cultures, parents with young children, parents with teenage children, lesbian mothers, teenage mothers, disabled parents and children.
